ABOUT IOCL

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd is India's largest commercial enterprise, accounting for nearly half of India's petroleum products market share. Incorporated as Indian Oil Company Ltd. on 30th June 1959, it was renamed as Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. on 1st September 1964 following the merger of Indian Refineries Ltd. with it. Indian Oil and its subsidiaries account for nearly half of India’s petroleum products market share, 35% national refining capacity and 71% downstream sector pipelines capacity in India.
The Indian Oil Group of companies owns and operates 10 of India's 20 refineries with a combined refining capacity of 80.7 million metric tonnes per annum(MMTPA).
Of the 10 refineries of Indian Oil, Guwahati Refinery is known as the Gangotri of Indian Oil and is the first public sector refinery of the country. Built with Romanian collaboration, it was inaugurated by Late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, on 1st January 1962. The Refinery produces various products and supplies them to Northeastern India as well as beyond through the Guwahati-Siliguri Pipeline, spanning 435 KM, which was the first Pipeline of Indian Oil and commissioned in 1964. Most of the products of Guwahati Refinery are evacuated through pipeline and some quantity also through tank trucks. Quality LPG, Motor Spirit, Aviation Turbine Fuel, Superior Kerosene Oil, High Speed Diesel, Light Diesel Oil and Raw Petroleum Coke are the products of this Refinery.

HOW TO APPLY

INSTITUTE

In case of applications directly from institutes
  • Institutes first need to register and create their ID.
  • Institutes should provide their official mail id of Training and Placement Cell for registering. In case it is found that registration has been done through any personal mail id, registration is liable to be cancelled.
  • After registration, institutes can fill up the names and details of the students they want to nominate for internship at Guwahati Refinery. Please note that from a particular institute, a maximum of 20 students are acceptable for registration at Guwahati Refinery. Institutes may choose to send in more students, but allowing more than 20 students is completely at the discretion of Guwahati Refinery authorities.
In case of Application from students
  • In case a student chooses to apply directly for internship, they may do so. However, an approval has to be given by the institute regarding the authenticity of the student. An application from a student is acceptable only after approval from institute.
  • Institute shall be able to view document(s) uploaded by student during approval.
  • For approval, institute has to login through their ID and select the approve button.
  • Students from a particular institute would not be able to apply if the institute has not created an ID. Institutes are therefore requested to register at the earliest.

STUDENT

  • Students intending to apply for internship have to create an ID first.
  • After creation, online application form has to be filled up.
  • Institute name has to be selected from drop down menu. Name of a particular institute shall appear in the drop down menu, only if institute has registered in this website through the official Training & placement mail ID.
  • After submission of application form, the application shall be forwarded to Institute ID for approval
  • Only after approval from the institute before the last date, the application shall be accepted.

Permissible Branches/Subjects for internship at GR

  • Mechanical, Chemical/Petroleum Engineering, Electrical, Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication, Civil, IT/Comp Sc., F&S engineering of BE/ B Tech/ BSc. Engg students can apply for internship.
  • MBA students pursuing in HR and Finance can apply for internship.
  • M Com, MA (Psychology/ Social Work/ Sociology), M.Sc (Chemistry / Env. Science), MSW and Post graduate diploma in Finance/Management students can apply for internship.
  • 5th to 8th semester engineering students and 2nd to 4th semester MBA students may apply only.
  • Minimum eligible average percentage for engineering students is 60% till the last semester examination. In case of students of ST/SC category, the minimum eligible average shall be 55%.
  • Minimum eligible average percentage for MBA students is 55% till the last semester examination.
